Drum-roll, please!
India’s women’s football team is rolling up their sleeves to play against the former World Cup runner Brazil for the first time. The teams consisting of Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela will lock horns along with India for the preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022
So far, India Women’s football team had finished runner-team at 1973 and 1983 AFC Women’s Championship and third at 1981 edition in Hong Kong. Around 1998, India suffered a lot partially because AFC Women’s Championship didn’t help the Women’s football team much to help in lifting the cup.
Fast forward to this, the Women’s India team got disheartened, losing the 2003 Asian games, defeated by China at 12-1, and in 2009 FIFA delisted the Indian Women Football for being inactive for more than 18 months.
But then tables turned and there was back-to-back in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, Thanks to players like Osman Bemben Devi, Bala Devi, Aditi Chauhan, and Ashalata Devi, who went all the way to what blue tigress are now.
There would be a lot of expectations and excitement from the in-form Indian football team. So, be ready for the neck-to-neck against the top-seed teams and the thrilling first match against Brazil on November 25.
