Let’s talk about Sex, Masturbation, and Sports

There’s this fantastic scene from The Office. Where Michael wanted to announce something before the Dunder Mifflin employees. To grasp their attention, he goes like this,

– (Michael) SEX! Now that I have your attention…

Indeed, everybody shifted their eyes to Michael

This is exactly the same way how athletes react. When they often hear these kinds of questions, ‘Does Sex affect athletic performance?’

And let me clear one thing. And I may give a spoiler at the starting of the blog without building any tension and excitement. But…. In 2016, Laura Stefani, published the research paper at Science Daily, saying,

“Abstaining from sexual activity before athletic competition is a controversial topic in the world of sport, we show no robust scientific evidence to indicate that sexual activity has a negative effect upon athletic results.”

The research paper crisscrossed all the other studies done on the same topic also said that,

‘One of these found that the strength of female former athletes did not differ if they had sex the night before. Another actually observed a beneficial effect on marathon runners’ performance. While this small handful of studies provided some clues about the real effects of sex on sports performance, Dr. Stefani and her colleagues were disappointed with the research on this subject to date.’

And, highlighting the crucial aspect,

“No particular importance has been laid on the psychological or physical effects of sexual activity on sports performance, or upon the different kinds of sports.”

Since sports don’t look for physical fitness, it’s also about the mind. So, I would say, every athlete should look for what suits him best. If sex has started affecting your physical fitness. Or brings your morale down, you exactly know what to do.

Now coming over to the millennial’s favorite past-time, masturbation. Okay, let’s face it, every other blog on masturbation unveils that it helps in relaxation. Promotes better sleep this or that. Although, this might be off-the-topic.

But worth getting to know that what to do when you over cross the limit. If you have time to spare. Try searching this, ‘masturbation side effects’, you’ll find some astonishing results.

And just let me clear one thing, I’m going to include that hasn’t any scientific proof whatsoever. It’s something that someone has experienced. One of the examples that I found was from Reddit is this one,

‘I have masturbated 3~7 times a day for over two years. I am 23 years old.

Now I see my life is terrible and dismal. I can’t feel any joy but from masturbation.

However funny movies I see or whatever delicious food I eat… I just see or eat it with no excitement at all.

At the same time, I always think about masturbation and porn.

I think I am seeking daily excitement only from masturbation, because it gives me the most intense pleasure per minute, apparently.

I think the euphoria of masturbation is almost like That of drugs.

So it is like that I’m addicted to a drug by the name of masturbation.

I wake up in the morning automatically taking down my stinky pants and begin to search for some good porn then play with myself.

After this hectic and grueling routine (almost 3~7 hours long) I become extremely tired physically and mentally, zombielike.

In this status I can’t read a book, even can’t breathe calmly. My body, hands, eyes oscillate like a pendulum.

Then I feel drowsy and fall asleep to repeat this routine the next day.

I can’t get out of this trap by myself. I tried hard but the longest record was 3 days without masturbation…’

I think, there’s not much to say now. See, I’m not even arguing that masturbation should get banned or something. No, like everyone has their own diet plans, curated for them. Everyone knows their own breaking points. Like when it’s the time your body is saying to back off when something is crashing you down.

In the end, it all comes down on you, and I’ll leave you with these lines to ponder over,
